Lorikeets are bristle tongued birds with a wet crop that need to feed on a Nectar/Powder nutritional mix. In addition to this mix, their diet should include a mixture of natural gum nut, blossom & fruit and vegetables. These can include blossoms from native trees and shrubs, flowers and their bugs, berries & leaf buds. They are especially fond of apples, pears, banana and other soft fruits. Suitable vegetables include corn, peas, carrot, broccoli etc. Consult your local pet shop or aviary specialist for further dietary advice.
During and leading up to breeding times, you could add calcium syrup or powder to the wet Lorikeet mix for improved egg condition and breeding success.
